Prayer is Essential
When a word study is completed on the word “pray” in Scripture, you will get hundreds of verses that pop up. . Luke recounts many prayers in the book of Acts. In 1 Thessalonians 5:17-18 Paul instructs the readers to “pray without ceasing” and then goes on to say to give thanks in all circumstances for this is the will of God. To give thanks is the will of God. That is a very big deal! We also see Paul continually praying for the people he is serving. Andrew Hess authored a blog post that goes through the 10 prayers that Paul prayed. In Matthew 6:9-14, in the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus teaches the listeners to pray. Another example of Jesus praying is found in Matthew 26:39 as he cries out to the Father in the Garden of Gethsemane: “My Father, if it be possible let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will.”
Prayer is essential to the Christ-follower.
This is what The Englishman and Christian author, Leonard Ravenhill, said of prayer,
No man is greater than his prayer life. The pastor who is not praying is playing; the people who are not praying are straying. We have many organizers, but few agonizers; many players and payers, few pray-ers; many singers, few clingers; lots of pastors, few wrestlers; many fears, few tears; much fashion, little passion; many interferers, few intercessors; many writers, but few fighters. Failing here, we fail everywhere.
The next move is yours.
