How To Live with No Regrets
First, fire your Life Coach.
You will save a lot of money and I pinky square promise there is enough time in the day to do all that God would require of you. I guarantee it. Then immerse yourself in the words of the wisest man to ever live, King Solomon. Listen to him in
Proverbs 9:6, "Leave your simple ways, and live, and walk in the way of insight."
Don't trip over the profound simplicity. He gives three strategic life changing choices that you must make every day.
1. LEAVE. "Leave your simple ways."
You cannot choose your feelings, but you can choose your thoughts. Think of ways to step away from the daily pet sins of criticism, negativity, anger, bitterness, toxic relationships, unforgiveness, and self-pity (remember, you have to bake your own cupcakes for your own pity-party.) A Christian is always leaving behind, putting off, setting aside and taking down because they choose a lifestyle of repentance. So confess, repent and leave it behind.
2. LIVE. "Live."
Cut yourself loose from yesterday. Seriously, you can only live in one place, and that is the present. You cannot live in the past; it is over. You cannot live in the future; it has not happened. Too many Christians are just surviving because of a littered past or an uncertain future. Choose to live for him, by him, and through him, today. You know God cannot steer a parked car so start living the life in front of you.
3. LOOK. "Walk in the way of insight."
The Hebrew word for "insight" here is "binah" and carries the idea of understanding. We would call it practical wisdom. Life requires more than just a high IQ. I know this because I see smart people all the time do stupid things. This is why they say wisdom is making the connections in life. So your daily prayer must be "Lord give me understanding and help me make the connections today." Be the person who not only knows what to do today but dig deeper to understand the "why you do" today.
Like the ancients said, "Choose this day whom you will serve." Decide to leave, live, and look. Choose life of long obedience and receive the greatest compliment ever given,
"Well done, good and faithful servant."
Mark Twain once said, "I could live on a good compliment for 90 days." I think a compliment like that from the King will carry you for all eternity.
