Do You Speak Female?

I guarantee that the Apostle Peter would not have been husband of the year before he came to Christ.  Think about him, the fisherman Peter; he stinks, sinks, and blinks at life's critical moments. Not the catch of the day. Yet, Peter gives all of us men hope. So we, too, can grow up, and better yet, we can grow up in Jesus.

We can become the rock in our marriage, family, and ministry. Peter has a good word to help us, men. Once life had kicked in for him, he wrote to us men, hoping we could learn. I Peter 3:7 says, “Likewise, husbands live with your wives in an understanding way knowing she is a weaker vessel. Grant her honor as a fellow heir of the grace of life so that your prayers may not be hindered.”

God did not command us, men, to understand women as He would never command the impossible. Yet he says, “Men, live with your wife according to knowledge." A word-for-word translation of the Greek is, “Hey man, when it comes to your wife or a woman, don't be an ignoramus.” Notice Peter did not say live with her in a misunderstanding way; instead, become a full-time student of your wife. You single men, get a Ph.D in women. Peter then gives us guys three direct to-do’s.

First, it is your job to be a life-long learner of your wife. Second, you honor that woman. Remember the saying “Ladies first”? Well, that is not relegated to the heap yard of the 1950's B&W TV shows. She is first. She holds a place of honor. She is to be pampered and spoiled. Lastly, you give her unconditional respect. She walks on hallowed ground as a fellow heir in the grace of life. She bears the very image of God as you do. She was purchased with the blood of Jesus as you were, and she will reign with Jesus someday as you will.

Men, listen to Peter. Study, watch, take copious notes, lay your life down, and esteem her for all the world to see. Is this that important? (if you have to ask this question, you’re an idiot.) Read the end of the verse, "so that your prayers may not be hindered." God has no interest in hearing from you if you have no interest in her.

So, yes, this is big-time important.
